One flat fee for students, paid only when a match is confirmed.

Students pay $10 per matched preceptor — not per rotation. One preceptor may cover several rotations, depending on your school's rules. Preceptor and school accounts are free; preceptors only pay if they opt into private messaging.

The numbers

What students pay: $10 vs. $1,995 — $10,000+

A typical FNP program needs four rotations. Here is what a student pays to staff those rotations on Preceptor.Network compared to traditional placement services.

What is a "match"?

A match is one confirmed preceptor. The $10 fee is charged per matched preceptor — not per rotation. Some schools allow a single preceptor to cover two or more rotations; in that case you only pay $10 once for that preceptor, not $10 per rotation. So a 4-rotation program might cost $10, $20, $30, or $40 total — depending on how many preceptors it takes to cover the four rotations.

Numbers from public student reports on TikTok, Reddit, and nursing forums — and from placement service websites themselves. Placement services almost always charge per rotation. On Preceptor.Network you pay $10 per matched preceptor, so if one preceptor covers two of your rotations you pay $10 once — not twice.

What you get

What the $10 includes

Every match fee is the same and includes the same things. There are no tiers.

  • Match scoring against your program's clinical requirements
  • Verified preceptor profile — NPI, license data, specialties
  • Direct contact as soon as the match is confirmed
  • Honest student reviews from prior rotations
  • Mutual safety codes for paid-fee matches
  • Re-match support if a rotation falls through before it begins

Some preceptors set a precepting fee for the time they invest in mentoring you. Many do not. Either way, the fee, payment method, and payment terms are always shown on the preceptor's profile — before you pick a match.

The precepting fee is between you and the preceptor — Preceptor.Network does not manage, hold, or take any cut of precepting fees. For paid-fee matches we do provide mutual safety codes — short codes both sides verify in person before the precepting fee changes hands.
Pricing FAQ

Common questions

Is the $10 per rotation or per preceptor?

Per preceptor. A "match" means one confirmed preceptor relationship — and a single preceptor may cover one, two, or more of your rotations depending on your school's rules. You pay $10 once for that preceptor, not $10 per rotation. So a 4-rotation program might cost $10, $20, $30, or up to $40 total, depending on how many preceptors you need.

When am I charged?

When the preceptor accepts your match request. Browsing, searching, and submitting requests are always free.

Are there subscriptions or annual fees?

No. There is no monthly, annual, or per-seat fee for any role. The only platform fee is the $10 per confirmed match.

What if the rotation falls through?

If a preceptor cancels before the rotation begins, contact support and we will help re-match you or refund the connection fee.

Do preceptors charge their own fees?

Some do, some do not. Each profile lists the precepting fee — if any — up front. The platform $10 is separate from any precepting fee paid to a preceptor.

Are there fees for preceptors?

Preceptor accounts and the matching flow itself are free — profile, capacity controls, receiving and accepting requests are all included at no cost. The one exception is private messaging, which is an optional preceptor-side paid feature. Preceptors who opt in pay; preceptors who don't opt in pay nothing.

What about schools and programs?

Free as well. Domain registration, program rule configuration, and student auto-recognition come standard for any accredited program.

Can I get a match without paying?

Yes — students can request a match credit, and admins approve credits in cases of demonstrated financial need.

Are promo codes accepted?

Yes. Promo codes can be applied at checkout against the $10 match fee.
